چکیده
Abstract In this study, the residual stresses were experimentally studied for cold‐formed square hollow section (CFSHS) with dimensions of 150×150×10 mm. The measured in both longitudinal and transverse directions S355J2H/S420MH S700MLH tubular sections. results showed that measuring on outer inner surfaces at a distance 60‐70 mm from end specimen is an accurate convenient method. For steel grades studied, highest flat regions close to corners. On face opposite weld seam, scattered clearly among different repetition tests differed values reported literature. influence grade was more observable faces weld. As weld, combined effect cold forming temperature affect stresses, it recommended quantify separately other faces. regions, so dominating can be neglected. scatter irregular corners indicate additional are needed randomness characteristic local stresses.

Residual Stresses Measurement in Hollow Samples Using Contour Method
Residual stresses are created usually undesirably during manufacturing processes, including casting, welding, metal forming, etc. Residual stresses alone or in combination with other factors can cause the destruction and fracture of components or significant decline in their service life. Therefore, it is crucial to measure the residual stresses. Contour method is a destructive testing method c...
متن کاملNeutron Diffraction Evaluation of Near Surface Residual Stresses at Welds in 1300 MPa Yield Strength Steel
Evaluation of residual stress in the weld toe region is of critical importance. In this paper, the residual stress distribution both near the surface and in depth around the weld toe was investigated using neutron diffraction, complemented with X-ray diffraction. Measurements were done on a 1300 MPa yield strength steel welded using a Low Transformation Temperature (LTT) consumable. Near surfac...
متن کاملPrediction of Residual Stresses for a Hollow Product in Cold Radial Forging Process
Radial forging is an open die forging process used for reducing the diameters of shafts, tubes, stepped shafts and axles and also for creating internal profiles such as rifling the gun barrels. The radial forging of tube is usually performed over a mandrel to create an internal profile and/or size the internal diameter. Most of the previous studies conducted on the radial forging process have u...
متن کاملLoad Partitioning in a Duplex Stainless Steel with Surface Strength Gradient and Residual Stresses
The load partitioning between surface and bulk was studied by means of in-situ synchrotron energy dispersive diffraction in an SAF 2507 superduplex stainless steel having a strain hardened surface layer with compressive residual stresses. Two loading cycles with a peak tensile strain of 0.5% and 0.87%, respectively, were successively applied and the evolution of stresses in the respective const...
متن کاملFlexural Performance of High-strength Prestressed Concrete-encased Concrete-filled Steel Tube Sections
The sections composed of concrete and steel, which include concrete-encased concrete-filled tubes, generally have defects due to the low tensile strength of concrete. Therefore, an appropriate method was used for the combination of concrete-filled tubes (CFT) and prestressing strands which is encased in concrete. The conventional design guidelines are commonly developed for materials with norma...
